# GridLoss AI: full description ## What it is GridLoss AI turns a DISCOM's existing data (smart meters, energy accounting, billing, asset sensors, supply) into one reconciled view of aggregate technical and commercial (AT&C) loss and a ranked list of actions. The same screens answer five questions in order: See (how much is lost), Trace (where and why), Predict (what happens next), Act (what to do and the rupee impact), Prove (can the result be trusted). ## Current figures (60-day window, synthetic data) - Revenue loss: Rs 5,877,018 - AT&C loss: 12.94% of energy input - Energy lost: 807,248 kWh of 6,240,598 kWh input - Consumers: 2,000; feeders: 10 ## Loss ledger (how the numbers tie) Input energy minus billed energy plus the collection gap is split into five buckets: technical loss, theft, metering error, billing gap and collection gap. Each bucket is given in kWh and in rupees (kWh at the feeder's realised tariff; collection in exact rupees). Network totals equal the sum of feeders, and each feeder equals the sum of its line, transformer and HT-consumer nodes. The identity is exact, so a figure on the Overview equals the same figure in any drill-down. ## Network and data One distribution network: 220 kV receiving substations, 33/22/11 kV feeders, distribution transformers, then consumers. Industrial consumers connect at 11, 22 or 33 kV, commercial at HT or LT, domestic at 230 V single phase or 415 V. Supply comes from 16 conventional and renewable sources (coal, nuclear, gas, solar, wind, hydro, small hydro, biomass). Data is synthetic and seeded; anomalies are injected with known labels (theft, reverse energy, meter failure, billing mismatch, technical loss) and used only to score models. Browse every table at /data/tables. ## Capabilities and the eight problems 1. Load forecasting: /forecast/overview, /forecast/series, /forecast/accuracy. Feeder, substation, transformer and category level, with intervals and baselines. 2. Supply constraint: /supply/load-shedding/scenario, /supply/load-shedding/critical-loads. Linear-programme plan against blind rotation. 3. AT&C loss attribution: /ledger/network, /ledger/feeders/{id}. 4. Theft and anomaly ranking: /investigations, /investigations/{consumer_id}. Probability with evidence text. 5. Grid congestion: /forecast/congestion, /forecast/growth. 6. Renewable variability and DSM: /supply/renewables/overview, /forecast, /dsm, /variability. 7. Asset performance: /assets/failure-risk, /assets/failure-risk/{dt_id}, /assets/failure-evaluation. 8. Billing integrity: /leakage/summary, /leakage/accounts, /leakage/evaluation. ## Method summary Supervised gradient-boosted models with out-of-fold or held-out evaluation, rule signals kept transparent, a closed ledger for attribution, per-level gradient-boosted forecasters compared with seasonal-naive baselines, and a linear programme for load shedding. Each module publishes its metrics at /submission/testing, with baselines and limitations. ## Honest limits Labels come from anomalies the generator injected, so scores show that methods recover a known pattern; they are not field performance. Some naive baselines match the model on this synthetic data and the pages say so. A pilot must backtest on real utility history and inspection outcomes. Deviation-settlement bands and tariffs are labelled assumptions. ## Data privacy Synthetic data only. Consumers are pseudonymous identifiers. The application runs inside the utility environment and calls no external service at run time. ## Dashboard pages - http://poc.nidhitek.com/overview (Overview, See): How much energy and revenue is lost, split by cause, with the feeder watchlist. -
